There are several ways to finish Cocobolo.
Because of its extreme denseness it finishes beautifully and it is
relatively easy to eliminate all open pores. Most artisans and furniture
makers finish this wood with a semi gloss satin sheen finish, giving the
wood an appearance of richness.
The two most common finishes are
1.
Hand rubbed oil.
2.
Polyurethane and lacquer synthetic finishes.
The color of the finish can also be controlled by the addition of tint.
Some pieces of Cocobolo tend to be on the orange side and for users wanting a rich, burgundy, antique looking finish, the orange can be toned
down towards the redder appearance.
